There are actually a number of good ones out there. They are nice for a visit to the doctor's office. Or a long commute on a train/subway. That sort of thing.

Wull....if you've got a long commute, why not just read David Copperfield? Since that's one of the greatest books in the history of the universe. And A Tale of Two Cities.
A Tale....*sniff*....of Two....Cities....*tear*....*sniff*...*cries*........Sidney.....*more tears*....

Ah, yes.
"It was the best of commutes, it was the worst of commutes..."
thingyens is probably my favorite novelist. Many think that he can be dry (and anyone who's read "Edwin Drood" would probably agree), but I think he has quite a witty sense of humor. I recall reading some passages of "A Christmas Carol" a few years back that made me laugh out loud...which doesn't happen that often...

Oh, I loved David Copperfield. I cracked up almost every time Mr. Micawber or Mr. thingy said something. And cried when Ham....*sniff*....Little Em'ly....
Drat that Steerforth!

Indeed - but I still say drat that Steerforth. He deserves it. Now, why on earth did it change Mr. Richard Babley's nickname to "thingy" ??

I don't know...I still get a kick out of how Proboards treats "D-I-C-K-E-N-S"! There has to be a naughty or nice list...that should be on the nice, I would think.

I agree - if our moderator ever comes back, we'll have to ask her about it.

I think that's way above her head...
I mean in the decision-making hierarchy...not intellectually!...

But I'm sure that she has an "in" with the administrative team...

Have you seen any version of 'A Christmas Carol' yet?

Not this season. Have you? I have already watched Elf, though. Twice. ;D

Believe it or not, 'A Muppet Christmas Carol' just might be my favorite! I haven't watched it this year yet because my brother is out of town until the week of Christmas and it is *definitely* his favorite version!
"The love is gone (*sniff*)...The love is gone..."
(pass the tissues, would you babe...I think I have something in my eye...)

But I have already watched 'Elf' as well!
"Bye, Buddy. Hope you find your dad!" "Thanks, Mr. Narwhal."

And then I traveled through the seven levels of the candy cane forest.
I'm sorry I stuffed eleven cookies into the vcr.
I like to smile, smiling is my favorite.

We elves try to stick to the four main food groups - sugar, candy canes, candy *corns* and syrup.
