Wow! I just looked it up on Amazon. It won the Newbery back in 1958. a VERY distinctive honor. And I see that it is a U.S. Civil War book. I think that it just made my 'favorite books list' already! It will definitely be in my library soon.

She would more than likely enjoy it as well. Although I don't think it fits within her favorite genre.

Yeah....it doesn't have any faeries. Just war and sadness and love and humor and Noah Babbitt and magnolia trees and soldiers and beefsteak and hissing geese and taking but not stealing and cats and apple butter and cows and watermelon and the Jackmans and colts and Heifer and sickness and...and...and...more good stuff!

Wow!! Like all that's not enough good stuff already!
I especially like Hugh Jackman. We was pretty good as Wolverine. I didn't know he was also involved in the U. S. Civil War!
...that guy really gets around...

? Oh! The Jackmans. Yeah, he must have access to a flux-capacitor equipped Delorian. And don't forget the redbud tree and Hooley Pogue and the guy whose name I've forgotten who walloped his dodger.
I haven't seen the X-Men movies.....

Great movie...
"Engine running. Flux capacitor...fluxing..."
I've been on an 80's movie kick lately. I forced my whole family to watch the entire trilogy! Before that we watched, "Better Off Dead."

What other classic 80's movies make your list?
I just saw the 'Back to the Future' trilogy the other week...

Um. '80's movies. I don't really think of them under year headings. My family likes the Short Circuit movies - are those '80's?
I just like old movies. The Court Jester, The Music Man, Singin' In The Rain, Dubarry Was A Lady, The Ghost and Mrs. Muir, My Fair Lady, I could go on for about a year. But I won't. ;D Not this time.

Yeah. I believe that the 'Short Circuit' movies make the 80's list. I guess I assigned movies, music, books, etc... to year groups. Especially the 80's. It was a pretty monumental decade for me.
I would say that you like "40's" movies (which most people lump in movies from the 30's to the 50's) best. Of course, then there are pre and post WWII categories...

I rarely pay attention to the year - I just decide if I like it or don't.

But some movies have more importance because of the year in which they were made. If you watch some of the most important movies of the pre-WWII era, there is a strong message of involvement--or a non-isolationist notion. Take Casablanca, for example. Many say that it's the greatest movie of all time. If that movie was made today, it wouldn't have nearly as much impact. But the implications of America helping France--and the rejection of Vichy France, more importantly--were very influential. It's necessary to understand the era during which art was made to truly understand and participate with it.

Yes, I understand that....I'm just saying I don't categorize my favorites in my head by year.

Ah. I'm a history nut so I can't help but to classify movies, music, etc by era.
