I see. On a similar note, I just saw Ben Stein's "Expelled" just last night. I've always been a big fan of Ben Stein and this documentary was no different. Very well spoken...and on a fascinating subject.

Hurrah, we hit page 3!
I don't know much about him, but is he the guy who had the show "Win Ben Stein's Money"?

I accidentally sat on my hair the other day. I guess that means it's getting pretty long.....

That's him. But did you know that he is also a widely regarded economist?
...Bueller?...Bueller?...

Indeed, no. As I said, I don't know much about him. And don't you mean "That is he?" Sorry, my mom is a stickler for grammar. ;D If you're referring to Ferris Bueller's Day Off, sorry, I've not seen it. I like reversing my contractions. Instead of "I haven't" I say "I've not." It's fun.

Isn't colloquialism fun?

Such things happen in my company.

Good point... David Morris, the artist who sketched the three latest 'Pajo' related drawings, currently has his hands full with the Bristol International Comic Expo (BICE) in Bristol, England. For more information go to www.comicexpo.net. Good luck, David!

Is that like, British Comicon or something?

BICE is a lot like Comic-Con...only with an accent...

Example: Blimey! It's Comic Con, me ol' chappess, eh wot?
I REMEMBERED!!! YAY!!! I am so proud of myself! On Monday I went to the Alamo and in the museum they have old firearms (I was in heaven), including Crockett's own rifle. Flintlocks, a Derringer rifle, old sabres, bowie knives by the dozen. Anyway, the guide-chappy was telling us about the loading/firing cycle of the Derringer flintlock rifle (with a tiger maple stock...sooo pretty) and that explained the origins of the phrases "flash in the pan," "lock, stock and barrel" and "buck" (as in the dollar). I remembered the first two, but couldn't recall the third. And since we were talking about it earlier, I thought you might be interested to know: In the olden days (way back when, before the hills got dusty) a deer (specifically a buck) was worth a dollar, hide and all. So a buck was worth a dollar. And a dollar was worth a buck. Et cetera.
Sweet factoid, eh?

I *love* etymology! I remember going to the Alamo a few years ago. VERY interesting...and quite humbling when you walk upon the hallowed ground of the Alamo proper...
Did you know that there is local legislation in San Antonio that states that no building can be erected in the city that would cast a shadow on the Alamo? There are just some things that we need to remember forever...

I did know that, actually....I just forgot I knew. We went on a li'l boat tour down by the Riverwalk and I think the guide mentioned as much. I like the sign (by the door into the shrine) that says "Gentlemen remove your hats." I'm not a gentleman, but I took my hat off anyway. Seemed the right thing to do. Plus it would have been too dark to see anything with it on. ;D

I think I heard yourfunny say something about the origins of 'buck' once. I remember the Alamo, or rather, how hot it was. I think I remember the weapons, though the only one that comes to mind is Bowie's knife. Good times...

I remember doing the riverwalk tour myself. San Antonio is a nice town...not much of a beach though...

Who you kiddin'? My whole life is an adventure! ;D
Actually I think I was back when I wrote the first Alamo post. I was only in Texas a day and a half. Just enough time to fit in some Rudy's Bar-B-Q, a walk by the river/reservoir/lake in downtown Austin (I saw fireflies for the first time...and "skwons"), the Alamo, the RiverWalk, some Tex-Mex (blah) and a trip to Cavender's.
Yeehaw!
